About This Project

We’ve seen some beautifully ornate and organically shaped electric guitars come out of SLA/SLS printers, however no one to date has tested the capabilities of FDM/FFF desktop printers by printing a full sized electric guitar. 3D Printing Solutions Australia undertook this challenge with their fantastic, fully functioning finished guitar, all printed with Polymaker’s PolyMax™ PLA on the UP Box, a desktop FDM 3D Printer. Aesthetically themed around the French suits found on the standard deck of playing cards, the design incorporates the four suits embossed into the body of the guitar with a split depth shadow gap.  Thanks to 3D Printing, the designer, Michael Tyson could really let his creative juices flow when drafting his guitar. By 3D printing the body, Michael was able to create multiple layers to the guitar, which would have been extremely tricky using non additive manufacturing processes.
