27 Jun PolySmooth – Transparent
Introduced half way through our Kickstarter campaign for PolySmooth & Polysher, Transparent takes the PolySmooth color range up to 12 colors. When first announced there was a real buzz around this new filament as once its polyshed inside the Polysher, it offers aesthetics and clarity unbeknown to this technology. Formerly 3D printed parts needed extensive post processing to gain what was a disappointing amount of clarity. Now PolySmooth Transparent offers the best optical clarity available to 3D printing.
To show off the transparency of PolySmooth Transparent we decided to print this desktop fish tank decorated with Shamrock Green PolySmooth sea anemone.
When printed in single shell vase mode and polyshed in the Polysher, Transparent produced almost glass like optical clarity.
Furthermore when its printed with multiple shells and polyshed the depth of color creates a pearlescent finish offering a wide range of aesthetic and practical applications.
When polyshed the outer shell/perimeter becomes completely see through, showing off the infill and interior shells.
Once the outer shell is completely transparent, you can achieve different effects with infill percentages and even by changing the style of infill. These snowmen below show just some of the possibilities with PolySmooth Transparent.
